I remember that every time I am sick my mother would gently wipe my forehead with a cold towel to cool down the fever. My natural proficiency in academics allowed me to see my childhood dream in to fruition without too much hitch. It was in high school that I began fulfilling my juvenile ambition.
My undergraduate study provided me with the scope of knowledge and ethics from both general and professional education.
The curriculum also prepared me for professional practice in the conventional and amorphous health care settings and groundwork for graduate education in nursing. To further expand my hands on experience I adjusted my volunteer work at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Being a patient care volunteer entails a variety of tasks such as visiting patients and their family, answering call lights, walking with patients, assisting patients at meal time, running errands as well as assisting at the time of admission and release.
The experience allowed me to channel my humanistic interest as well as developed my critical thinking and decision making skills and enabled me to acquire new skills that are essential in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry.
Juggling my studies and a seven day schedule as volunteer had not been easy, but four years of hard work paid off when I graduated Cum Laude in X.
As a clinical nurse I am responsible for the direct provision of efficient and thorough nursing care. It also left me frustrated and perturbed. With the knowledge that I still have a lot to offer the field I once again embark on an educational journey, one that will allow me to expand my learning and enable me to reach my full potential.
I am confident that the program will advanced my knowledge and skill to practice as pediatric nurse in the delivery of primary health care to infants, children, and adolescents.
